I think it shows just how safe the car actually is. I crashed mine in January but I was travelling perhaps a bit faster and I was fine, as for the car and the BMW I hit...both written off! Whoops!
you're both right, HAARDKAAR and CSTAFFY.Jeremy did hit a single layer of bricks,but you may remember it shattered up and the Volvohad its major stop due to the remainings of the wall hitting the engine basement. quite a harsh stop.In fact, you can see Jeremy "feeling" the impact a lot more than this driver in the Megane.

It's probably because it doesn't have the "advanced airbags" system that invovles automatically turning off the (passenger airbag) when no one is sitting in the seat or if the seat belt isn't buckled.
renaults are the saftest cars in the world, renault make there cars safe, they were the 1st car manufacture to bring out a car with a 5 n cap safety rating, and have not long ago brought out a car with a 6 safety rating, audis, bmws, mercs or volvos, loool, all have around 4 star ratings. plus this video is bout 6 years old. that megane look like it had hardly been touched compared to the other car.
its because this kind of accident come at this speed in cities... if u do it on a highway with 130 or 150KM/H you won't be here to post messages on youtube i guess ;)

Cars have crumple zones to absorb the impact. Modern cars look worse on slow speed collisions than old cars look on faster ones - they take the impact to keep the energy away from you. I still say that typing on YouTube 2 weeks after a 60mph crash is amazing. After your 'colourful' message though, I hope the drunk gets his hard justice.

American cars are expensive and pollute more than european cars. And They are too big.This one (Megane) isn't ugly. But it' my thinking. It's not very debatable...If its interior don't look better than a chrysler, I prefer buy this french car because very very cheap than the chrysler ! And, for me, the PT cruiser is ugly... i would like to say that french cars are not allowed in the united states because they do not pass our emissions test. so how can you say american cars are more polluting? then again, i suppose it would be more important because you are taxed based on this while i am not. i think the europeans are too harsh on american cars. bottom line: they are one of the most reliable cars on the road. they will last over 200,000 miles regardless of how cheap the dashboard feels.

no XD where i live mostly people carpool, suburbia, so usually people maximize their 8-passenger space. dont look at me, i technically have a french car, nissan, i think the engine might be french, 2.5L 4 cylinder? i dont believe in excess, i have 2 sedans for my wife and son. pretty much the last family i know who hasn't gotten an SUV or minivan for the family. my brother in law has the same wife and kid i do, he has an 8 seat honda pilot suv, and a 7 seat minivan nissan quest. idiot lol.

French cars are allowed in the US, they easily pass emission tests (well the diesels maybe not). But it's a question if you want to be in a market at all. Strict US emission tests are a myth, most new cars from the US market don't qualify for Euro4. If I want to import an Infiniti I get Euro3 only. That means as new car it wouldn't even be allowed to be sold anymore because all carmakers have to offer at least Euro4 norm.

First of all, Peugeot does not equal all rfench cars. 2nd, that may be possible for the diesel engines as the USa have stricter emission regulations for diesel engines inc ars than Europe, but more lax for gasoline engines. As for Canada, they have a law that a car ahs to have zero damage in a 7kph crash, that's why they don't have every Mitsubishi Evo for example. If the french carmakers would want to enter the USA, it would be simply very expensive, but not because they can't.

I have been told that renault was actually fine with it. And yah i have ridden in the car. They should export them to the USA i think they would do quit well here.
I have a 2004 megane 120dci in 3 Doors Luxe Privilege and I Love It... very comfortable on the Road and good reaction in High Speed...and we have in my family the RS 235Cv and it's an excellent Car too !!! I love my Megane !!!

Legioner You're idiot.They showed a simple and the weakest crash I have ever seen! This is not a big crash hiting the other car in it's door. Nobody wants to make a comparable crash test with Mercedes W124 for example - I think it will be not very good for renault driver believe me. The only car in 1992 crash test which won was the Mercedes W124 - the passengers compartment stayed intact! It was the only car with stable compartment. The W124 can stand against some modern cars as a very safe car!

Gawd, crappy comments as ever. Good vid - yes, those features have been around awhile but here they showed their confidence in them with a real crash at realistic speed with no protection. That's more reassuring than 100 dummy vids in slow motion. I'd have preferred to have seen 40mph though...
